Books are the windows through which the soul looks out’ is a phrase that NMBA truly believes in. The genesis of the Association’s library goes back to late 70’s of the last century. In the beginning, the library was run out of members’ home. It was shifted to its present location when the Association built its permanent office here. Initially, the library consisted of books which were donated by enthusiastic members supplemented by occasional purchases from Kolkata. Today, the NMBA library is equipped with several thousand books of diverse subject and tastes.
Its collection of novels, poetry books, short stories, child literature primarily of famous Bengali novelists writers and poets of the past and present is a veritable treat to the taste of scores of Bengali readers. It has many religious texts and bibliography both in Bengali and English often used as reference materials. Also, the Library subscribes to several periodicals, magazines & literary publications.
